Pursuing the MFT and LPCC license

To become a licensed therapist in California, you will need to complete the courses and formal education requirements set by the Board of Behavioral 科学s licensing 董事会, 完成3,000 hours of acceptable supervised experience, and pass the examinations administered by 论坛. 的 entire process from entry into graduate school to licensure takes a minimum of three and 一个-half years if 一个 proceeds with graduate training and internship 全职工作.

We offer all of the coursework for both pre-degree licensing requirements with 一个 exception, Career Counseling. This course can be taken before or after graduation, and will complete all course requirements for the LPCC. 菠菜网lol正规平台 currently offers this course through the graduate 教育al Counseling (EDCO) program, and students pursing the LPCC take this course in their second year.

It is important to note that the 论坛 has different pre-degree face-to-face therapy hour requirements for internship hours for the MFT and LPCC tracks. (有很多 other pre-degree hour requirements, also.)

的 pre-degree therapy requirement for LPCC students at 280个面对面课时 is very 难以满足 for most agencies in two semesters. In part, this is 130 more therapy hours than they are built to accommodate for students, and it is hard to see that many more clients when 一个 is first learning to do therapy. 

Not all, but some 菠菜网lol正规平台 MS Clinical 心理学 program students need to postp一个 their graduation to achieve the pre-degree LPCC therapy requirements. 这意味着 of being granted a degree in May, students are granted their degree in August when they complete these hours. 的re are NO additional financial costs for this, but it is important to anticipate.
